Mâcon-Mancey red
A Vignerons de Mancey “specialty”, Mâcon-Mancey red comes from vineyards in which the first plots were planted back in 1945. Some Gobelet-pruned Gamay Noir vines still stretch their arms over the slopes of Mancey, Royer and other communes in this tip of the Mâconnais wine region. The vines are forced to struggle in the thin clay-limestone soils, the perfect conditions for producing the full-bodied wines which are so typical of this particular terroir.
A specialty? Yes, we think it is safe to say that it is… People, from the local area and beyond, recognize us and come to us for our Mâcon and Mâcon-Mancey reds.
Les Cadoles: Our local pride
The "Les Cadoles" wines come from selected plots in several domaines.
On the slopes of Tournus and Mancey and elsewhere, you will spy numerous "cadoles", small constructions that served as shelters for the wine growers. Varying in sophistication, their design is quite unique. You could say they resemble stone igloos!
