Appellation Vintage
Gevrey-Chambertin denotes a village-level Burgundy that can include fruit from vineyards within the Gevrey-Chambertin and Brochon communes.
The 2018 vintage in this area was widely regarded as strong — ripe and balanced with good structure and expressive fruit.
Grape: Pinot Noir.
Taste Aromas: Expect vibrant black cherry, raspberry and wild berry fruit with earthy, licorice and spice nuances typical of the appellation.
Structure: Medium- to medium-full body with balanced acidity and fine tannins, and savory elements that develop with bottle age.
Aging Potential: Many 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin wines are drinking well now but can benefit from additional cellaring over the next several years.
Food Pairings: Great with classic Burgundian fare such as beef bourguignon, grilled red meats, game, and mature cheeses
